Film poetico e originale, grezzo ma brillante, diretto da Wang con l’apporto concreto dello scrittore Paul Auster e di tutti gli attori.
Tutto il senso di questa grande pellicola di Wayne Wong (da vedere anche Blue in the face, una sorta di seguito voluto e improvvisato dal cast per non disperdere l’energia del set di Smoke) sta nel pezzo di Tom Waits, che chiude il film, di cui sotto riportiamo il testo.
E se come il sottoscritto masticate poco l’inglese, niente di male: le belle canzoni sanno sempre come farsi capire.
